LGBTQ+ and Pride Month celebrated at Waterloo Lodge

June is recognised as LGBTQ+ Pride Month.

This year to celebrate the month, Waterloo Lodge School created window displays in each classroom and worked on understanding different areas of Pride.

For some this included learning the different flags associated with different Pride areas, such as transgender, pansexual, non-binary and many more.

The rainbow flag in the LGBTQ+ community represents life, healing, sunlight, nature, magic, art, serenity, and spirit.

Students were able to learn about Pride month and how it started and were asked to design their own Pride t-shirt, alongside completing some other creative tasks.

Students were proud to showcase their understanding of LGBTQ+ terms and help educate those who did not know as much, helping them to use the correct terminology, while showing a deeper understanding and tolerance for those who identify as part of the LGBTQ+ community.
