Welcome from the Head Teacher

Thank you for visiting the Waterloo Lodge School website. I am proud to introduce you to our school, which provides a mix of academic education onsite and vocational training alongside our partner organisations, such as FourHousing, North West Angling Academy (NWAA) and Achieve.

At Waterloo Lodge School, we like to do things a little differently for our children, all of whom have a range of different learning needs that mean mainstream school is not the ideal place for them. All our pupils arrive at school by taxi and I am there to greet them at the start of each day and to say goodbye as they head home. This is just one aspect of the carefully cultivated family feel here that strives to make each child feel special.

Our young people learn alongside peers who have similar abilities, rather than in year groups, and our aim is to work in the most flexible way we can to meet the needs of the individual child. If a child has a particular area of interest that we don’t currently cater for, we will endeavour to do so. Alongside more academic subjects, our children benefit from learning outside in our lovely gardens. All our children receive points for every class they attend. At the end of each term, these points are converted into Amazon vouchers in recognition of their achievement and hard work.

We want our children to succeed in the broadest possible sense. While we value and celebrate academic achievement, we are equally delighted to see them developing ‘soft skills’ such as learning to have conversations or building their confidence in social settings.

Education and supporting these children is my personal passion and I have the backing of an extraordinary team who are a privilege to work with. Everyone is here for the children and we go above and beyond to support them.
