The Explorers and the Digger

People who help at Waterloo Lodge School

To make the Explorers class topic’ ‘people who help‘ a little bit more exciting we invited AE Yates and their digger to school. The Explorer pupils loved listening to the engineers reading them a story called ‘When I grow up’ which also linked to our careers week. Our Explorer pupils then became engineers themselves and created bridges and construction vehicles out of Lego. It was amazing to see the pupils so engaged. Pupils then got to explore how diggers work in the sand activity before having the opportunity to actually explore the real digger that was waiting for them in the front garden. They were overjoyed when they got to sit in the driving seat. They thoroughly enjoyed learning all about future careers in the construction industry. Huge thank you to AE Yates
