Deep in Waterloo Lodge School where the corridors wind, The children had stories and fun on their mind. “It’s World Book Day!” they cheered with delight— And costumes appeared in a marvellous sight.
There were Gruffalos stomping with terrible claws, And Where’s Wally wanderers giving puzzled “oohs” and “ahs.” Naruto ninjas dashed with a whoosh, While hobbits and a DJ crept out from a bush.
The Knight Sir Callie stood brave and tall, And Other Mother tip‑tapped down the hall. From Charlie’s factory, Violet’s sweet treats came, With golden tickets held high in the game.
Teachers joined in with a grin and a laugh— A magical mix of the whole school staff. They marched and they danced in a colourful parade, Celebrating the stories that authors had made.
Then—tra‑la‑laaa!—with a leap and a prance, Burst Captain Underpants & Curious George into the dance! He whooshed through the hall in his cape and his grin, Causing giggles and cheers to bubble within.
But wait—what’s that sound? A bark and a zoom? Dog Man came bounding right into the room! With floppy‑eared courage and paws full of might, He joined the parade with delight in his stride.
“Oh help! Oh no! What a fabulous day!” The children all shouted as they ran off to play. With books in their hands and joy in their eyes, Waterloo Lodge’s imagination began to rise.
And when the day stopped and the fun had to end, Each child left school with a book-loving friend. For stories bring courage, adventure, and cheer— And World Book Day magic lasts all through the year
