Representatives from the Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service visited Waterloo Lodge School to teach pupils about fire safety and the important work they do within the community.

Pupils learned about the many ways firefighters help people, including rescuing individuals who are struggling in water, extinguishing fires, responding to incidents involving toxic fumes, and assisting animals in need. They also had the opportunity to try on firefighting protective clothing and learned how the specialist uniform helps keep firefighters safe while carrying out their duties.
During the visit, pupils explored the difference between good and bad fires and discussed what actions they should take if a fire occurs. They practised the “stop, drop and roll” technique and learned how to help someone else if their clothing were to catch fire.

The session was both educational and engaging, helping pupils develop important fire safety knowledge and a greater understanding of the valuable role firefighters play in keeping communities safe.
